2020 Festival Guide


Happy New Year! A new decade is upon us, one that we hope is going to be filled with excitement, possibility and, best of all, adventure. Here at New Marque Motorhomes, we believe that adventure is best sought from the comfort and flexibility of a trusted, luxury motorhome (we might be a bit biased on our choice of travel though). So here it is; your 2020 Festival Guide.
We’ve tried to bring together a range of events and festivals taking place around the UK, from the mashup of music festivals to food-filled arenas and the land of literature and arts. So, read on and get ready to fill up your 2020 Festival diary.


In Cider Festival
Date: 31st January – 2nd February 2020
Location: Pontins Sand Bay, Weston-Super-Mare

A Cider Festival in Somerset, need we say more?
This 3 day indoor festival takes place just off the beautiful Sand Bay in the Pontins holiday park, with music, entertainment and plenty of cider to warm your belly and help push away the winter blues.


LSE Festival: Shape the World
Date: 2nd – 7th March 2020
Location: Multiple venues, London

The LSE Festival brings together innovators and global leaders to explore how social sciences can change the world. Attend with an open mind.


Words by the Water
Date: 6th – 15th March 2020
Location: Theatre by the Lake, Lakeside, Lake Rd, Keswick CA12 5DJ
Ticket Prices: Varied for events and shows
A chance to explore the beautiful Lake District and enjoy the pleasure of words, this seemingly modest 10 day festival is packed full of events and talks for those that write and read.

Affordable Arts Fair, Battersea Spring
Date: 12th – 15th March 2020
Location: Evolution London, Queenstown Road, London SW8 4NW
Ticket Prices: £9 – £27
A name that says it all: attend to browse through thousands of artworks all priced between £50 and £6000.

Oxford Literary Festival
Date: 27th March – 5th April 2020
Location: Multiple venues, Oxford
Ticket Prices: Varied for events and shows
Another March event for literature lovers, this years Oxford Literary Festival features talks with Pat Barker, Anthony Horowitz and Chris Packham.


Surrey Food Festival
Date: 25th – 26th Apr 2020
Location: Old Deer Park, Richmond, TW9 2SL
Ticket Prices: £6.49 – £11.79

We really can’t say it better than The Surrey Food Festival itself, “The festival of all festivals, more food and drink than a body can handle.”

Malton Gin Festival
Date: 17th – 19th April 2020
Location: The Talbot Malton, Yorkersgate, Malton YO17 7AJ
Ticket Prices: £10
April is for the foodies and for the gin lovers. The Talbot is once again hosting the Malton Gin Festival for visitors to taste the best selection of gin from across Yorkshire.


How the Light gets in
Date: 22nd – 25th May 2020
Location: Globe at Hay, Newport St, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford HR3 5BG
Ticket Prices: £188 – £208
Music, comedy and big ideas, How The Light Gets In is on its way to becoming the biggest philosophy festival, along with the help of the beautiful backdrop of the Black Mountains and the River Wye.

Sea Change Festival
Date: 22nd – 24th May 2020
Location: Dartington Hall Estate, Totnes, TQ9 6EL
Ticket Prices: £99 – £131
A more under-the-radar festival, Sea Change brings together the beauty of the Dartington Hall Estate with music and talks on literature, art, food and the environment.


The Middlesex Food Festival
Date: 6th – 7th June 2020
Location: London Irish, Hazelwood Drive, Sunbury TW16 6QU
Ticket Prices: £10 per day
Another festival full of food and drink, live music and a demo stage for you to get insider tips and chef secrets. And if you need another excuse to eat and drink all day, the proceeds all go to local charities.

Summer Solstice at Stonehenge
Date: 20th June 2020
Location: Stonehenge, Salisbury, SP4 7DE
Ticket Prices: Free of Charge
Not a festival as such, but a magical event that attracts thousands each year. Celebrate the Summer Solstice like never before at Stonehenge.

Of course, we haven’t forgotten about Glastonbury Festival 2020, but with tickets already sold out we thought it’d be a little late to write out the details.


Barn on the farm
Date: 2nd – 5th July 2020
Location: Over Farm, Over, Gloucester, GL2 8DB
Ticket Prices: £130
Awarded Best Grassroots Festival, Barn on the Farm revels in its “small festival” title. Based on a farm in Gloucester, it hosts less than 3000 people and showcases new music talent each year.

A festival that’s ALSO about food, ideas, music, comedy, nature, experiences and kid-friendly. Get it?

Latitude Festival
Date: 16th – 19th July 2020
Location: Henham Park, Suffolk
Ticket Prices: £227
A popular music festival on the scene with a mixture of genres. This year Haim, Liam Gallagher and The Chemical Brothers are booked to headline.

Womad Festival
Date: 23rd – 26th July 2020
Location: Charlton Park, SN16 9LL

A UK festival that brings together international arts, Womad stands for ‘World of Music, Arts and Dance’

New Wine United 2020
Date: 25th – 31st July 2020 (2nd week dates: 2nd – 8th August 2020)
Location: East of England Showground, Peterborough, PE2 6HE
Ticket Prices: £174
Bringing together churches and church members from all across the UK for two weeks of workshops, seminars and group activities.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Basically, the whole of Edinburgh for the whole of August. Each summer the already beautiful city comes alive with arts, literature and theatre. A must visit.

Greenman Festival
Date: 20th – 23rd August 2020
Location: Brecon Beacons, Wales
Ticket Prices: Not yet announced
An independent music and arts festival that’s grown rapidly since its inception in 2003 to host 20,000 people, with a focus on nature, community and the festival spirit.

The Big Feastival
Date: 28th – 30th August 2020
Location: Alex James’ farm in Kingham, Oxfordshire, OX7 6UJ
Ticket Prices: Early bird £159.50
Jamie Oliver does Glastonbury, with the big stages showing artists and chefs alike. No need to stock up on snacks before heading to this one.


End of the Road
Date: 3rd – 6th September 2020
Location: Larmer Tree Gardens, Dorset
Ticket Prices: £195
Coming to the end of Summer Festival season, End of the Road is another independent festival celebrating all things rock and folk.

St Ives September Festival
Date: 12th – 26th September 2020
Location: Multiple venues, St Ives

Talks, poetry, open studios, exhibitions and comedy all in the beautiful seaside town of St Ives

Somerset Art Week Open Studios
Date: 19th September – 4th October 2020
Location: Multiple venues, Somerset
Ticket Prices: Free
A different way to explore Somerset with a celebration of contemporary art. This year artists open their studios to the public for two weeks, forming a trail of exploration across the county to those who seek it.


Cheltenham Literature Festival
Date: 2nd – 11th October 2020
Location: Multiple venues, Cheltenham
Ticket Prices: Varied for events and shows
One of the UK’s biggest literature festivals, Cheltenham brings together talks, free events, food and drink in their festival village.


Lewes Fireworks Night
Date: 5th November 2020
Location: Multiple sites, Lewes
Ticket Prices: Varied for events
If you want to go all out for Bonfire night in 2020, Lewes is the place to go. The biggest Fifth of November celebration take place in the town, with seven bonfire societies all hosting their own fireworks and celebrations, bringing alive the history of the night. You’re spoilt for choice of where to attend, but rest assured that each show will be spectacular. Don’t miss the Grand Processions, where multiple societies join to march through the town.

Indika Festival
Date: 12th-22nd November 2020
Location: Multiple venues, Liverpool
Ticket Prices: Varied for events and shows
Europe’s largest festival celebrating the Indian Arts, featuring dance, film, visual art, talks and activities for all.


Winter Solstice at Stonehenge
Date: 21st December 2020
Location: Stonehenge, Salisbury, SP4 7DE
Ticket Prices:
Slightly colder and most likely wetter than the Summer Solstice, but still as mystical, Stonehenge is also open for Winter Solstice.

Grassington Dickensian Christmas Festival
Date: 5th – 6th & 12 – 13th December 2020
Location: Grassington, North Yorkshire, BD23 5NX
Ticket Prices: Free
Where to stay:
Each year the picturesque town of Grassington goes back to Victorian times to celebrate all things Dickens (and Christmas). The streets fill with costumed entertainers and the shops brim with goodies to fill your stockings.
